Too bad it was a dream!

I had the best dream the other night. I dreamt that we were moving to a new place and got to register at Bed, Bath, and Beyond all over again. How cool would that be!?!?!?! In the dream, I found silverware just like the kind we already have, so I registered for more, since (in real life) we only have 8 sets. I don't know why I didn't think I would need more than 8 spoons, but I'm really regretting that choice now. I was really sad when I woke up to find that I didn't get to re-register! I think that every 5-10 consecutive years that you are able to stay married to the person, you should throw a party and you can register at whatever store you want and the guests bring you "Congratulations Gifts" from said store. What do you think?

What it's like at our house...

The kids were playing outside today and I just happened to get a video of what it's like--I mean to say what it SOUNDS like-- at our house on a daily basis. All is quiet and everyone is happy when, all of a sudden, for no good reason (sometimes there are good reasons for this occurrence, like teasing, bothering, hitting, etc.).........

Adventures in being a groupy

Last night I went to the book signing of The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It was really fun! It was at Thanksgiving Point in their Barn Theater thing. There were about 993 women in attendance and 7 men. I felt bad for the men and wanted to ask them how they got coaxed into going, but I wasn't sitting near any of them.

So, we got there at 6pm and got a great seat in the second to last row. Stephenie came out at 7, talked for about 20 minutes and then spent the next 4 hours or so signing books. She's a real trooper. I don't think my hand could handle that kind of abuse! She chatted with us as we passed in line. She seemed super cool! I'm amazed that after 8 sharpies and 4 hours, she can still be pleasant to total strangers. I guess it helps that we love her books and have basically made her rich.

Anyway, we had to wait for a long time to get our books signed, but it was cool. I went with 4 other ladies, only one of which I had seen more than once (that would be you, Brittney). It's amazing how total strangers can fill 6 hours with chit-chat about babies, pregnancies, scary stories and all sorts of other things. I had a great time. It was a fun adventure and I would totally do it again. But next time, I'll make sure I sit a little closer to the front so that it's not midnight before I get home to a worried husband who was about to start calling hospitals to find out if I was still alive.

Here are some crappy pictures of Stephenie and one of us ladies. This might be the best pregnancy picture of me you guys get to see. Although, I have received some threats that some of my readers might morph into paparazzi and sneak pictures of me when I am unaware.

Am I a hypocrite?

I've had a request recently, actually two, from my blog readers. These two women, who shall remain nameless (but if you want to see who they are, just look at the comments from my last post), want me to post an up-to-date picture of my very large, pregnant self.

Where do I begin explaining how much I'm not going to do that because I don't want to. The funny thing is, one of those people sees me at least once a week, so already knows what I look like. The other has seen me pregnant before and I don't think I look that much different this time than when I was pregnant with Eli. (except, my bum is a bit bigger this time) :~)

Here's where the hypocrisy comes in: I just found out that a really dear friend of mine is pregnant, for the first time. She doesn't live in Utah any more, therefore, I probably won't see her any time soon. Since this is her first pregnancy and since she's a tiny little Filipino girl, I hope she puts a picture of herself on her blog when she's close to being due. I would love to see how far out her belly goes, since that's the only place for the little one to go.

Is that being hypocritical? Probably. Is that going to change the fact that I'm not going to post a preggie pic of me? HECK NO!

In conclusion, I'm sorry to all those who want to see what I look like in my spherical state. It's just not going to happen. Thank you and have a nice day!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you women out there, those who are mothers now, and who hope to be some day!! I have had a pretty good day. Here are some of the highlights:

~At church, instead of getting the usual flower (I'm not too into flowers, unless they're from Mike), they had every variety of Pepperidge Farm cookies and each woman got to choose her own bag!!! I chose Soft Baked Chocolate Chunk, ::surprise, surprise:: I was nice and shared them with my family, but there are still two left and those are all mine!!!!



~For Mother's Day/last minute partying before the baby comes, Mike is planning on taking me out of town for the weekend some time at the end of the month. I'm stoked about it!!



~Eli got me some super cool stuff from the Dollar Store and he drew me a picture. He chose an orange Hawaiian lei and a plastic cup. Here's a picture:

Eli thinks the cup is so funny. I love it too. I put my milk in it when I ate my cookies this afternoon. It's fun to drink out of.

~I didn't have to help make dinner, but I did help Mike sneak a whole cup of butter into the mashed potatoes.

~My kids are in bed. That happens every night, but it just feels so good when I get the chance to enjoy peace and quiet.

The other night, at about 11pm, I had this conversation with Eli. (He was not awake during this conversation, I don't think)



E: Mommy, will you make my blankets stachilous?


B: What? What does stachilous mean?


E: It's when you look at a guy different.


B: Oh.


E: I want you to make my blankets stachilous.


B: Okay.



So, I covered him up and tucked him in. That's all I did, but it seemed to satisfy his request. It's cool that he makes up his own words. I just get a little concerned when he uses those made-up words in the wrong context.
