When I was younger, I received one of the biggest (in my opinion) compliments ever from one of my brothers. This brother (can't remember which one) told me that I spit like a boy. I can't even begin to tell you how good that made me feel. Sounds weird, I know, but you have to understand where I'm coming from. I grew up with three older brothers and no sisters. I wanted to be accepted by them very much. So, when I was told that I did something just like them, I felt one step closer to being one of "The Boys".
I didn't realize how great it is to be a good spitter until I had a daughter who cannot spit! Leah recently switched from non-fluoride toothpaste which can be swallowed to fluoride toothpaste which should not. From this switch we have discovered that she is terrible at spitting!! She gets toothpaste all over her face every time she tries to spit. And she doesn't get all the spit out of her mouth. I keep telling her and showing her how to do it. Eli and Mike try to show her too, but she just doesn't get it. I don't know what to do. I think the only solution might be to have her live with my three brothers for a week, so they can teach her the proper spitting technique.
So, Will, Ben, and Mike.....will you please teach Leah how to spit like a boy???
And just as a side note, that compliment still makes me feel good!
