An unfortunate discovery

Noah was playing very quietly yesterday afternoon. When I went to find him, I discovered he was taking a pre-nap nap. I was not happy. That pre-nap nap he took ruined his actual nap and, in turn, ruined mine. It's a good thing he's cute or I would have been really mad. Next time, I think I'll just leave him there!

And no, he didn't wet himself, unless you consider spilling water on your pants the same thing as "wetting" them.

A glimpse into the future

A few Saturdays ago, Mike and I went with his brother and dad to an American Revival done by Glenn Beck. It was super cool and I'll have to post about it another time. But I saw something there that I thought was funny.

There were many people there in patriotic clothing, but one couple stood out to me. I saw them as we were walking into the Energy Solutions Arena (formerly known as the Delta Center) and then again on Trax on the way home. So, I snuck a picture of them. I thought their outfits were a bit over the top, but that's not what impressed me. I kind of felt like that's what Mike and I will look like in 50 years; we'll be a cute little old couple going to some crazy event. (except I think Mike will still have all his hair and I won't wear clothes like that) I see the resemblance, do you?

A bit of advice

Here are three reasons why you should NEVER take your children with you when you go bathing suit shopping:

1. They will laugh when they see your butt. (And you'll have to remind them again to keep their eyes closed)

2. They will describe the suit you are wearing as looking "country". (I have no idea what that means when a 6 year old says it, but it was meant as a compliment)

3. When you're wearing a suit that actually fits, they will say, "Wow mom, that's way too big." And you will have to correct them by saying, "No it's not, sweety. That's what it's supposed to look like."

No matter how inconvenient, just don't do it! Beg; plead; pay someone to watch your kids for a few hours. Do whatever you have to, just don't bring your kids with you! I know they're little and they don't really know what they're saying, but it's just not good for the self-esteem!

Happy Day after your Birthday Chubbs!!

Yesterday was Noah's birthday. I would have blogged about it then, but we were too busy having birthday fun. Here's how the day went:

Noah woke up,

and found balloons in the living room.

Noah practiced holding up two fingers and saying, "I'm two." It's harder than you think.

After he put on his special birthday outfit,

we went to the playground.

We had Mac and Cheese for lunch and then Leah and Noah helped me make the birthday cake.

Then it was present time. I think his favorite present the the set of two narnies (what he calls guns) Mike and I got him. They light up and make real lazer blast sounds. They can also be connected to form one mega lazer gun.

Then it was cake time. The nice thing about him turning 2 is that I got to choose what kind of cake to make. So of course, I made something really yummy.

He had a great day! We're so glad he's in our family!!

July 4th Celebration

We went to St. George for the July 4th weekend. It was fun, but really hot! Here are some pictures of the fun times.

Going to see fireworks

Playing at Zion National Park--I love that place!

Noah being a nature boy. He walked on those rocks with no shoes on. I don't know how he did it!

Playing with bubbles and sidewalk chalk

We really only played outside in the morning or evening. In the afternoon, we did lots of swimming. Fortunately, I can't swim with the kids and take pictures at the same time.
