I think I need to stop with the temporary tattoos

Eli got a fake tattoo on Friday and I put it on him Saturday morning to help give him extra power for his soccer game. He was so excited about it and showed all this teammates. It was great.....that is until dinner time that day. Eli was asked to say the prayer and one of the things he included in his prayer was, "And please bless that my tattoo will stay on forever." Fortunately, I don't think that's really the sort of thing that Heavenly Father blesses people with. So we're safe for now, until Eli discovers that there is a way to keep tattoos forever.

I've got two questions...

And they are at the right-hand side of my blog for you to answer. If you don't have kids, just take an educated guess. I'm not going to tell you my answers, but I think you can figure them out.

Oh, and...

Noah can walk!! He just started this week. It's so cute and fun. He loves it too!! I think it's something he'll really stick too. I hope he sees the appeal, because I'm getting tired of carrying him. He's a heavy chubs!

My little Leah is 3!!

Yesterday was Leah's birthday!!! We had a great time. I stayed up way too late decoration our place so that she would wake up to balloons and pink streamers.

During the day, we just played with the balloons and did our usual stuff. Eli created some awesome, impenetrable balloon armor.

The real festivities began after dinner. We had family over for cake, ice cream, and presents. The most important thing is really the cake of course. I tend to let the kids pick cakes that are kind of tricky. This year, I gave Leah a choice and I'm so glad with the one she went with. The first choice was a cake with marshmallow flowers on it and the other choice was this:

A Polka Dot Cake!!!

I love it!! It's so cute and so easy. The dots are just M&M's (minis and regulars). It tasted great and was super easy. And clearly, she loved it!

We love this little girl. She's such a sweetheart! Happy Birthday Baby Leah!!!

An interesting solution

Yesterday, it was a bit chilly in the morning. I asked Eli to get dressed and he came out of his room wearing a T-shirt and shorts. I told him that wouldn't quite work and had him go outside so he could test the temperature to see for himself that it was too cold for his outfit choice. He wasn't too happy with that, so I gave him some options for what he could wear that would be acceptable. None of the combinations I suggested included what he chose. This is what he came up with:
He's a smart boy. He found a solution that made both of us happy. He was still wearing his shorts and T-shirt (what he wanted), but he added pants and a long-sleeved shirt (what I wanted). Fortunately, he did take the shorts off before going to school. However, I didn't tell him to. I probably would have let him go to school like that, but only because it's very important to him to choose his clothes. I figure I'd rather have him going to school being nerdy and confident than cute and pissed off!

He doesn't look like a baby any more does he?

I think I need to cut back on the crafty shows

I LOVE HGTV!!! It's pretty much the only channel I watch besides PBS and Disney. I call those shows my crafty shows. Sadly, I think it's time to cut back a bit. Why, you ask? Well, I think it's had a negative effect on my husband.

I got a new shower curtain recently. After I put it up, I asked Mike to look at it and tell me what he thought. All I was looking for was a "super cute" response. This is what I got instead, "Wow, that shower curtain really pops!! It's a real focal point in the room. What a great design element!"

The scariest thing is...he's right. Well, at least I think so. What do you think?

It's a fun, colorful shower curtain for the kids' bathroom. I just hope I haven't caused irreparable damage to Mike's masculinity by overexposure to crafty shows.

Fun Fact about Bats

According to Eli, "Bats are wrestle-less, means they don't wrestle." And that's been another fun fact about bats.

What I did this weekend

We got to go on a bit of a vacation this past Labor Day weekend. We got to go down to Washington (a city near St. George) from Friday to Monday to hike and play. We were there with Mike's parents and brother, Dave and my brother Mike and his wife Shaina. We played games, hiked in Zion National park and went swimming. Here are some pictures from the super fun times!

Mike, Mike, Shaina, and I hiked the Narrows on Saturday. The water was cold and deep at parts, but it was so fun. It's one of the coolest places I've ever been. I highly recommend it!

The next day, everyone hiked the Narrows. Eli loved it, except when the water got really deep. Leah hated it!! Noah thought it was great and why wouldn't he? He got carried around in a really comfortable-looking backpack and he didn't have to touch the cold water.

On our last day, we only had enough time to go swimming, but that was okay. The adults had barely enough energy to get in the water. The kids, on the other hand, needed some help getting energy out before the drive home.
